Collection: Kapa Kanaka

This collection was inspired by both a modern Kanaka Maoli (true people) flag design that many Hawaiians have adopted since 2001, and design patterns that existed on kapa (bark cloth) clothing worn by native Hawaiians in ancient times. The symbol is a kahili (representing royalty) and two paddles. The patterns I used were inspired by hand tools which Hawaiians used to decoratively stamp their kapa. Please enjoy this collection!
